ABOUT FEDEX NATIONAL LTL

FedEx National LTL and FedEx Freight Canada were formed as a result of FedEx Corporation's acquisition of the less-than-truckload (LTL) operations of Watkins Motor Lines and Watkins Canada Express from Watkins Associated Industries. FedEx Freight's primary focus is regional LTL, while FedEx National LTL focuses on the long-haul market. Customers will benefit from a one-stop solution for their LTL shipping needs. FedEx National LTL has approximately 8,700 employees and contractors, and approximately 139 locations. Its predecessor, Watkins Motor Lines, was established by Bill Watkins in 1932.

FedEx National LTL and FedEx Freight Canada will each operate as a separate network within the FedEx Freight segment, which also includes FedEx Freight, FedEx Custom Critical and Caribbean Transportation Services.

Robert K. Simons, a more than 40-year seasoned professional, is president and CEO of FedEx National LTL. He began his career with Watkins Motor Lines in 1994 as a manager of the Pacific Southwest District. Within a year, he was promoted to Western Region vice president. Bob later became the company's vice president of field operations and senior vice president for operations. A U.S. Air Force and Vietnam veteran, Bob began his transportation career in 1971 and worked for major LTL carriers in increasingly more responsible sales and operational positions until joining Watkins. He earned a bachelor's degree in economics at Washington State University and attended graduate school at the University of Tennessee.
